Q 1. How to Sign up on online eGiCCS Portal?
Answer: In order to create login credentials on the online eGiCCS portal visit our site https://onlineapps.teaboard.gov.in and click on Sign-Up Option
Declare all mandatory details such as name, organisation details, communication details and selection of User Id and Password and click on Register to create the login credentials.
Once clicked on 'Register' an OTP would be sent to both E-mail and Mobile Number declared in the registration FORM and once the OTP has been verified User would be able to process further with its Login Credentials.

2: What is the Procedure for applying for License / Registration?
Answer: Login with your user credential and select apply for license/Registration from the Tab License/registration and proceed. Follow the following steps-
1- Firstly you should accept the undertaking
2- Select the state
3- Select the Type of License / Registration
4- Furnished the relevant details as per the category of license / registration selected
5- Upload Supporting Documents
6- Pay Fees Online wherever applicable
7- Print Form and sign the same. After scanning this form upload it and acknowledgement will be generated.

Q 3. What is the mode of Payment?
Answer: The application fees for various applications are to be done via online payment mode either by credit card, debit card or net banking.

Answer: The documents are to be scanned and generate separate pdf for each document and select file to upload for each document.

Q 6. Where Applicant gets application reference number?
Answer: Application reference number is available in the receipt generated after application submission or on the online FORM submitted..

Q 7. How to check the Status of application?
Answer: The current application status of the application can be tracked after logging into the portal and click on License management module then SEARCH.

Q 8. How to apply for renewal of a license?
Answer: Applicant would have to login into the eGiCCS system via its login credentials as used to take the original license and select apply for renewal under the head Renewal to process the application for renewal.

Q 10. Can License that has expired can be renewed?
Answer: The license that has once expired cannot be renewed and applicant would have to apply for a fresh license and system would provide a fresh license number to the applicant.

Answer: The User Credentials can be retrieved from the eGiCCS login page by entering the User ID or Registered E-mail ID or Mobile Number or Application Reference Number.

Q 13. : How to apply for renewal of a license which was issued in the offline mode? How to migrate offline issued license into the EGICCS portal?
Answer: To migrate the offline issued licenses, user may raise a helpdesk ticket by signing into the EGICCS portal and required to attach the valid license copy issued by Tea Board India.

Q 14. : Payment related issues -
(a) If payment is debited from user’s bank account but still reflecting as “verify payment” in the portal.
Answer: User is required to raise the helpdesk ticket and needs to attach a copy of bank statement showing deduction of payment along with Application Reference No. against which payment has been made.
(b) If payment not debited but shows as “verify payment” in the portal.
Answer:User is required to raise the helpdesk ticket and provide the details of Application Reference No. and mention that the payment has not been debited.

Q 15. : How to submit E - returns online?
Answer: To submit E- returns online, stakeholders need to log into the EGICCS portal. After logging in please go to the Returns management module and proceed further with respective type of returns.

Q 16. : If the IEC authentication check reflects as null.
Answer: User is required to raise a helpdesk ticket and attach a scanned copy of Certificate of IEC issued by DGFT along with user ID of the EGICCS portal.

Q 17. : How to update user profile in the EGICCS portal?
Answer: To update the user profile details, please login to the EGICCS portal and after that click on User profile and update the required details accordingly.

Q 18. : How to view clarification remark sent by Tea Board?
Answer: Login to EGICCS portal, click on Licensing Management module then under LICENSE/REGISTRATION menu, click on APPLICATION FOR CLARIFICATION tab and proceed further.

Q 19. : In what time duration the applicants are supposed to respond for clarification sent by the Tea Board?
Answer:Once the application is sent for clarification, it is available in their login id to be reverted back within 90/120 days as per the application fee. If the applicant does not responds back with clarification within the above mentioned time period then the application is forwarded for "Auto -Rejection" by the system. Afterwards, you have to apply for a fresh license again.

Q 20. : How to download amended tea waste license?
Answer: After Login into EGICCS portal, click on Licensing Management module then under Renewal menu, click on “Download Tea Waste License’’ tab.

Answer: To download the online issued license copy, user need to sign in to EGICCS portal, click on Licensing Management module then click on COMPLETE APPLICATION and search (without filling any other details) and then go to below mentioned table and find the option to VIEW/DOWNLOAD.

Q 25. : What is the procedure for registration of flavoured tea?
Answer: For registration of flavoured tea, online system has been implemented. For online submission of
application, please create login credential in the portal

and submit requisite documents, duly signed and affixing seal.

Q 26. : What are the tea testing parameters required for registration of flavoured tea?
Answer: For registration of flavoured tea, reports of the following parameters (as per FSSR, 2011)
are to be submitted from Tea Board enlisted NABL accredited laboratory
under Integrated Assessment Scheme (list of the laboratories is available at the official website
of Tea Board India

Q 27. : What can I display in a pouch for Masala flavoured tea, whether percentage of each ingredient individually or the total value?
Answer:Kindly refer to the guidelines under Food Safety and Standards (Packaging and Labelling) Regulations,
2011 published in the Gazette Notification dated the 1st August, 2011 issued by the Ministry
of Health and Family Welfare wherein it is clarified that common name of permitted flavour
along with percentage has to be mentioned i.e. percentage of each flavour has to be mentioned
individually. For example, in Masala Flavoured Tea, if the Masala Flavour consists of five
ingredients each of 1% and total up to 5%, the name and percentage of each ingredient
has to be mentioned. Other details, viz., name of flavoured tea, registration no. etc.
have also to be mentioned in compliance with the guidelines under Food Safety and Standards (Packaging and Labelling)
Regulations, 2011.

Q 28. : What are the types of teas allowed for registration of flavoured tea?
Answer:
Flavoured Tea Registration Certificate is issued following the provisions laid down in Food Safety and Standards
(Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Regulations, 2011. The above Regulation specifies only 4 (four)
categories of teas, viz., (i) Black/Oolong Tea, (ii) Kangra Tea, (iii) Green Tea and (iv) Instant Tea in Solid Form.
Hence, the above four types of teas are allowed for registration of flavoured tea subject to conformity to their
respective FSSAI parameters.

Q 29. : What are the parameters required for Flavoured Instant Tea?
Answer:
In Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Regulations,
2011, Version-XXV (23.09.2022), Instant Tea in Solid Form has been included for registration
of Flavoured Instant Tea. For Flavoured Instant Tea, FSSAI has fixed three parameters, viz.,
(i) Moisture Content, (ii) Total Ash on dry basis (Hot Soluble and Cold Soluble) and (iii)
Acid Insoluble Ash. The details of specifications are mentioned in the above Version of the Regulation.

Answer:
There is no parameter defined for tea extract in Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives)
Regulations, 2011. Tea extract or other kind
of tea whose parameters are not fixed in FSSR, 2011, are not allowed for registration of flavoured tea.

Answer:
Tea has its own flavour. Hence, addition of tea flavour is not allowed for registration of flavoured tea.

Answer:
In the annexure of FSSAI License, ‘Tea’ should be mentioned as authorized food product under food category clause 14.1.5.

Q 35. : Whether applicant can submit two new applications at a time from same or different login ID for registration of flavoured teas?
Answer:
For registration of flavoured tea(s), the applicant company/ firm can submit only one application.
After issuance of flavoured tea registration certificate, the modification link will be provided/activated
in the portal through which the applicant can apply further for inclusion of additional flavoured tea(s) in the
existing flavoured tea registration certificate.

Q 36. : Whether sample of ‘raw tea’ or ‘flavoured tea’ is to be sent to the laboratory for testing of FSSAI Biochemical parameters?
Answer:
Sample of flavoured tea (tea with added flavour) is to be sent to the laboratory for testing of FSSAI Biochemical
parameters. The laboratory should be Tea Board enlisted NABL accredited under Integrated Assessment Scheme.

under ‘Regulatory Activities’ section. Necessary information, viz., type of tea (Black CTC/Orthodox or Green),
name of flavoured tea, and details of ingredients should be mentioned in the test report.

Q 37. : Who will apply for registration of flavoured tea?
Answer:
The Marketing Company under whose brand name the flavoured tea will be marketed will apply for registration as
manufacturer of flavoured tea. The manufacturing unit i.e. where the activities of blending and packaging of
flavoured tea are carried out should be recorded as authorized premises in the FSSAI License of the applicant
company. The addresses of the marketing company (manufacturer of flavoured tea) and the manufacturing unit
should be mentioned in detail on the packet following the provisions under Food Safety and Standards
(Packaging and labelling) Regulations, 2011.

Q 38. : Whether seasoning substances can be added to tea for registration of flavoured tea?
Answer:
The intended use of seasoning is to enhance the flavours of other ingredients.
Seasoning substances cannot be treated as flavouring substances. Since, flavoured tea should consist of natural flavours and
natural flavouring substances only, seasoning substances are not permitted to be used as flavour.

Answer:
Citric Acid is not allowed to be added to tea in the manufacture of flavoured tea.

Answer:
Blue Pea Flower, Blue Corn Flower, Calendula Flower etc. being colour additives, cannot be used as flavouring substances for manufacture of flavoured tea.
Apart from the above, any other substance that imparts colour is not allowed to be mixed with tea.

Answer:
A company, although having Tea Distributor Registration Certificate, needs to obtain flavoured tea registration certificate separately for import of flavoured tea.
Actually, for import of flavoured tea, both Tea Distributor Registration Certificate and Flavoured Tea Registration Certificate are required to be obtained.

Q 42. : Whether Nature Identical Flavour is allowed for registration of flavoured tea?
Answer:
Nature Identical Flavour is not allowed to be mixed with tea for registration of flavoured tea. As per Clause 2.10.1 of FSSR, 2011,
flavoured tea shall contain natural flavours & natural flavouring substances which are flavour preparations and single substance respectively, acceptable for human consumption,
obtained exclusively by physical process from materials of plants origin either in their natural state or after processing for human consumption.

Answer:
Coffee is a similar kind of beverage, not a flavouring substance. Hence, coffee or any other substance bearing fragrance of coffee is not allowed
to be mixed with tea for registration of flavoured tea.

Q 44. : What is the minimum percentage of tea required in the flavoured tea?
Answer:
Tea should be the major constituent in the flavoured tea, i.e., percentage of tea should be more than 50% in the flavoured tea.
